About us

Faculty and researchers from the UPV Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

Most of our work is in tribology and manufacturing processes. We measure friction and wear in metals, polymers and composites, study how processing conditions affect the properties of the finished part, and build numerical models to predict it. Some of this work is done in projects with companies and with other UPV research groups.

The lab is also used for course practicals, bachelor’s and master’s theses and doctoral research. It is on the ground floor of the Carbonell Building (CBL4) on the Alcoy Campus.

Research lines

Research lines

Tribology

Dry and lubricated friction and wear testing, and friction in sheet metal forming, including high-strength steels.

Materials science

Thermoplastic-matrix and natural-fibre composites, and how injection moulding and 3D printing conditions affect mechanical properties.

Mechanical engineering

Fatigue, creep, in-service failure analysis and finite element simulation.
